What does the YMCA Summer Camp Offer?

Safe Environment

Parents trust us with their most valuable possession – their children and we take this responsibility very seriously. Staff members spend 30 hours prior to the camping season in training. All are trained in CPR, First Aid, child abuse prevention, and anti-bullying, and many are lifeguards. All staff are trained in safety procedures for our building, pools, lakes, parks and other field trips we go on.

Highest Quality Staff

Staff are chosen for their leadership skills, safety consciousness, responsibility, and caring attitude towards children. More than 75% of our staff, and 100% of our leadership staff return from summer to summer. References and past work experience are thoroughly checked. Criminal background checks are conducted prior to hiring. The counselor to camper ratio varies by age from 1:6 for Kiddie Campers, 1:8 for Pathfinders, and 1:10 for older campers.

Financial Assistance

The YMCA offers financial assistance to those who may be in need of a reduction of fees. You may request a financial assistance application from the front desk. All applications must be submitted two weeks prior to the week your child will attend.

Registration Fees, Deposits & Late Fees

There is a one-time registration fee for all campers. The fee is $28.00 for the first child and $13 for each additional child. A non-refundable, non-transferable $10.00 deposit is required to reserve any week of camp. Full payment is required by 6pm on the Friday before the week of attendance. If full payment is not made by Friday at 6pm, then your space may be given to someone on the waiting list. A $10 late fee will be assessed if full payment is not made by the Friday before camp begins. OR You can sign up to have your payments automatically drafted out of your checking, savings, or your credit card. No deposit is required if you are going to be drafted.

Cancellations, Changes & Refunds

Cancellations received seven days before the affected week will receive a full refund less the $10 deposit. Refunds requested after this time require a medical certificate. Once the week begins no refunds, transfers or credits will be given. Any changes must be made seven days prior to the camp beginning.

Children with Special Needs

Your child with special needs can enjoy summer in a fun and interactive environment. Our experienced staff will make your child feel welcome and safe. All participants must have basic abilities and be able to function in a group setting. “One on one” staffing will not be provided. Please call Abby to discuss your child’s needs.

Character Counts

YMCA Summer Day Camps focus on building  the confidence of each child through character challenges that encourage personal growth and the development of strong values. Each week campers will build character as they focus on one of core values below….    CARING Be kind and show concern for others. Express gratitude. Help those in need.  HONESTY Don’t Cheat, steal or deceive. Keep your promises and be reliable. Have the courage to do the right thing. RESPECT Live by the Golden Rule. Value the abilities and characteristics of others. Use good manners. Be considerate of others feelings. RESPONSIBILITY Do what you are suppose to do. Finish what you start. Always do your best. Be accountable of your choices.
